Lima Tour 2 Days

Lima is a beautiful city with a fantastic history that dates back to 1535 when the Spanish conquistador Francisco Pizarro founded the city. Within 70 years Lima had harnessed the power and wealth of all trade at that time to become the most important city in the Americas. Today, Lima is a lively metropolis of nearly 9 million inhabitants, wonderful Peruvian cuisine and wonderfully historic churches, museums and monasteries whose architecture is recorded as a UNESCO World Heritage site.

Day 1: Arrival in Lima

Upon arrival, reception at the airport and transfer to your hotel, our representative will give you a “welcome kit” with a detailed program explanation along with luggage and hotel registration assistance.

Lima is not only the capital of Peru it is also full of history and tradition, and one of the largest cities in the world. On this tour you will be able to walk the streets of the capital and see the contrast between the past and the present. This tour of the City of Lima, also known as the City of Kings, offers a walk through the most imposing colonial churches and mansions in the historic city center, declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site, as well as through the modern area of the city. For the evening version this tour takes us on a nighttime stroll through the City of Kings to discover Lima from another perspective. Its colonial ambience takes us hundreds of years into the past.  After visiting the historic city center, we travel the streets of modern Lima to reach the bohemian district of Barranco and its famous “Bridge of Sighs,” a special tour for a special night in the city.

Day 2 City Tour: Colonial and Contemporary Lima – Departure (B)

A trip to the heart of Lima, “The City of Kings” includes the most important architectural icons of the city, such as the Main Plaza where you can find the Government Palace, the City Hall, the Cathedral and the Archbishop’s Palace. Then, we continue with a visit to the San Francisco Convent, an architectonic jewel dating back to the 16th century.  On our way to the modern area of the city, we will cross the exclusive district of San Isidro, the new financial center of Peru, to take a look at pre-inca Huaca Huallamarca. Finally, we conclude our circuit in Miraflores, where we will visit the “Parque del Amor” (Love Park) an excellent spot to enjoy a great view of the Pacific Ocean.

Also we will see Puruchuco an archaeological complex hidden in the city of Lima, which served as a ceremonial and administrative center during the time of the Incas. Built on top of an ancient pre-Inca cemetery, more than 2,000 mummies in perfect condition were discovered here, thus making it one of the most important pre-Hispanic burial sites on the continent. During the tour, we will visit the ruins with Incan architectural features.

At the scheduled time, we will take you to the airport for the flight to your next destination
